Singapore is the default regional landing zone. Australian data can be kept entirely within Australia East and Australia Southeast; Indonesian and Malaysian workloads can use their in country regions where local requirements call for it. Backup and disaster recovery copies follow the same rule as primary data unless you specify otherwise.

Where is data held for Asia Pacific customers?
Singapore is the default landing zone: Azure Southeast Asia, AWS Asia Pacific (Singapore) or Huawei Cloud Singapore. Where a local requirement calls for it, we deploy into Australian, Malaysian, Indonesian or Indian regions instead.
Can Australian data stay in Australia?
Yes. Azure Australia East and Australia Southeast, or AWS Asia Pacific (Sydney), keep primary data and copies within Australia, which is the clean answer to APP 8 cross border disclosure questions.
We are regulated by MAS. What can you provide?
The outsourcing evidence a regulated institution needs: due diligence documentation, resilience and recovery testing with recorded results, access control evidence, and contractual audit rights. Those are the specific items MAS regulated customers ask us for.
Do you cover India?
Yes, through Azure's India regions. India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act is being phased in through its rules, and we deploy in country so residency is settled ahead of the requirements landing.
